What happens when you bring the people you love together and take away the logistics?

In a recent AFAR feature exploring a new generation of group travel, writer Chris Colin shared what happened when six longtime friends spent a spring weekend together at NewTree Ranch.

Their stay unfolded across the ranch rather than around an itinerary: morning coffee together at the villa, yoga overlooking the meadow, time with the animals, conversations beneath the trees, and a private dinner prepared with produce harvested that morning from our biodynamic gardens.

But what stayed with the group wasn’t simply what they did. It was the freedom to spend their time together without the usual work of a group getaway. With meals, experiences, and details cared for, there was room to linger after dinner, spend an afternoon outside, or discover the pleasure of doing very little at all.

AFAR described the experience as combining “the intimacy and shared spaces of a house with the invisible service layer of a boutique hotel.”

It’s a description we particularly love because it captures something at the heart of NewTree Ranch. The villas give families and friends a home to share, while the ranch, our team, and 120 private acres create the space to experience that time together differently.

Perhaps AFAR’s simplest discovery says it best: “you can simply sit under a tree for a long, happy time.”
